Wheel Load Rating and what you should know to keep your family safe

  • By CTO Admin

Care must be taken when choosing aftermarket wheels to make sure you have the minimum required load rating for your vehicle. It's up to the consumer to fit the correct rated wheels. For this reason you should employ the experience of a wheel and tyre specialist to aviod possible wheel failure.

Approved wheels will have load ratings readily available either with spec sheets or directly on the wheel box packaging. All road wheels should have the maximum load rating stamped on them so this can be confirmed.

Check your vehicle wheel and tyre placard for information about the specific ratings applicable to you. Some manufacturers will have the wheel rating, others may have axle ratings which can be divided by two.
