Adventure Destinations: Mataranka, NT

Some of the most remarkable places to see in Australia can be easily accessed near main roads. This doesn't mean that they are not worth stopping to investigate. Mataranka thermal springs are one such place. This absolutely stunning stop-over will be enjoyed by the whole family and you'll be flat out draging yourself away after experiencing this gem of the Northern Territory.

Crystal clear water flows form hot springs to create beautiful swimming holes amongst tall shady Mataranka Palm Trees. The soothing warm waters are just the ticket to give the family a break from the drive along the Territory's Stuary Highway. Accomodation and caravan access are available along with Bar and Bistro facilities to compliment your rest from driving. There are a variety of walking trails into the Elsey National Park including a 8km, 4 hour, riverside trail providing access to the Roper River and Mataranka Falls. The hot springs are located 7km east off the Stuart Highway near the township of Mataranka.
