Adventure Destinations: Limestone Coast, SA

If your after an adventurous beach dirving experience, head over to the South Australian coast. There is a fantastic drive from Kingston SE, running for almost 170 kilometres north west along the Southern Ocean to the Murray River mouth. A favourite destination for four-wheel drivers, the area is known for its fishing, surfing, kayaking, birdwatching and camping. Attractive, clear water is a feature of this stunning landscape. Much of the region is remote, so come fully-stocked with water, food, fuel and firewood. Beach entry is also possible at many camping points along the coast. Keep a set of tide tables for the area so you know when to expect high tides.

Some beach driving experience will be helpful as the sand can get quite soft in places. If the tide is high and you are forced to drive in the loose sand high along the beach, low tyre pressures and momentum are a must. There are some sand dunes here and there for a little extra fun along the trip. When returning to the bitumen make sure you reinflate your tyres to road pressures.
Kingston SE is located about 240 kilometres southeast of the state capital of Adelaide and 138 kilometres north-west of the town of Mount Gambier
